Polar Bear has been building custom homes and providing services for residential remodels and additions since 1985. Since the company’s inception, one of owner Barrett Burr’s main goals has been to offer his customers opportunities to incorporate, “green building” technologies and materials into their projects.
Our current clients viewed the Polar Bear Construction Built home in our photo above, (also see side view below). This home was no longer for sale, but they fell in love with it; and wanted to know if we could build it again, for them. We broke ground this past November. The exterior walls of the home are built with Faswall, insulated concrete forms. Faswall blocks are made of ground up recycled wood pallets mineralized to be non-combustible; the inner area is lined with rigid foam. The open interior of the block is filled with concrete after the blocks are assembled. The result is an almost foot thick exterior wall that creates a high performance building.
This home is a collaboration with Waterline Custom Carpentry. The project is funded with an Owner Construction Loan from Olympia Federal Savings.
The separating wall was removed in this
Dining Room / Kitchen Remodel in an older Olympia home.
Here is a view from the kitchen showing the open space created after removing the separating wall.
Polar Bear Construction
High Performance Home, Side View,
our current project is based on this home.
At Polar Bear Construction, we listen carefully to our customers and work diligently to understand their design goals and criteria. We are open to new ideas, and try to educate ourselves regarding current construction technologies.
In the end, Polar Bear Construction creates a project that is good for the customer, good for the company, and good for the place where we all live.
